To make room for the Dubai Marathon, several highways in the Umm Suqeim and Jumeirah regions of Dubai will be closed early on Sunday until 1 pm, according to the Highways and Transport Authority.
The Dubai Marathon will start at 6 a.m. and end at 1 p.m. Authorities have not yet disclosed all the specifics of the road closures, although portions of Umm Suqeim Street, Jumeirah Beach Road, and Al Wasl Road will be closed.
RTA tweeted a video of the marathon route map, featuring participants taking part in the first and oldest international marathon in the Middle East, scheduled for 2024. It will begin and end near the Dubai Police Academy on Umm Suqeim Road. The 42.195 km course will pass through Jumeirah Beach Road and under the shade of the recognizable Burj Al Arab and Madinat buildings.
In addition to the competitive marathon, a 4 km fun run is available for novices and enthusiasts, and there will be elite and amateur runners competing in the 10 km category.
The Dubai Sports Council has sanctioned the event, and elite international athletes, up-and-coming stars, and first-time runners are expected to participate in large numbers in the 2024 Dubai Marathon. Because of the course’s relative flatness, both elite and recreational runners could expect to finish quickly.
