Indian Christians get ready for the customarily multifaith Christmas festivities.

New Delhi: As they prepare for Christmas, Indian Christians are excited to connect with other religious groups that have historically joined them in their yearly festivities.

After Islam and Hinduism, Christianity is India’s third most popular religion, with roughly 36 million Christians or 2.5 percent of the total population.

They invite others to join them in celebrating and feasting Christmas by decking their churches with candles and poinsettia flowers.

Christmas markets pop up across the nation even though Christians make up a small portion of the population. Santa Claus, Christmas trees, and illuminations adorn shopping malls, and kids put up nativity scenes for the holiday.

Even though we make up fewer than 3% of India’s population, Christmas is widely observed there, according to P. D. Valson, a Christian baker from Bangalore.

“Shops are decked up, streets are lit up, the market has special sales, and people of all faiths attend the midnight mass. Christmas’s widespread appeal demonstrates the splendor of secular India, where everyone celebrates holidays regardless of their religious affiliation.
