A Group that Stole Laptops Worth Dhs1.7 Million by Posing as Police Officers is Apprehended in Sharjah

Four Arab nationals who were planning to pose as police officers and steal laptops worth Dhs1.7 million were caught by security teams at the Criminal Investigations Department of Sharjah Police. The judiciary has been tasked with handling additional proceedings.

This followed a report that the Central Operations Room had received from an Asian man who worked for a company that handled the delivery and transportation of goods. The report described how the Asian man was the victim of theft and fraud by unidentified assailants. The attack took place in an industrial area, and the attackers stopped him, posing as police officers.

Later, he found out that he had been conned and that the items being delivered in the car had been stolen. One thousand eight hundred laptops were among the stolen goods.

Deputy Director of the Criminal Investigations Department at Sharjah Police, Colonel Abdulrahman Nasser Al Shamsi, said that a capable team started looking into the incident after they received the report.

Through a process of research, investigation, and careful monitoring, the location of the stolen goods and the perpetrators were identified based on the data obtained. Colonel Al Shamsi continued, “They were able to identify and arrest perpetrators in 48 hours.”

The Sharjah Police ask the public to cooperate with the security forces by reporting any infractions, suspicious behaviour, or items that raise suspicion. Call 999 in an emergency or 901 in a non-emergency. The police have also emphasized the community’s role as partners in preserving the security and safety of the emirate’s citizens and residents.
