In his capacity as the president’s envoy, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan The 5th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDC5), which begins on Sunday in Doha, Qatar, will be attended by Sheikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Fujairah. He will represent the UAE in Doha.
Many world leaders will attend the five-day meeting, including industry, civil society, and youth representatives.
In addition to tapping the potential of the Least Developed Countries and assisting them in moving forward on the path to prosperity, the global conference aims to expedite sustainable development in the regions that most urgently require international aid.
The conference covers building capacity, investing in human capital, eradicating poverty, and using science, technology, and innovation to help underdeveloped countries.
The conference also examines how to support LDCs in engaging in global trade, regional integration, combating climate change, overcoming the COVID-19 epidemic, and building resilience.
It is anticipated that at the meeting, specific initiatives and tangible deliverables that would address the difficulties unique to LDCs will be announced.
