The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has announced the introduction of the Patient Safety Friendly Hospitals program, which is a key step toward ensuring high-quality healthcare services following international best practices.
The program, launched with the World Health Organization (WHO), seeks to promote patient safety by producing recognized standards that improve hospital performance in conformity with international best practices.
It also aims to improve staff competencies and engage patients in activities promoting healthcare quality.
The program’s introduction follows the training of a national team in conjunction with WHO to get accredited as national assessors for the effort.
Furthermore, the first two hospitals in the country to get the label “patient safety-friendly hospitals” were evaluated and accredited: Fujairah Hospital of Emirates Health Services and Mediclinic City Hospital.
