Despite Misleading Information, our Support for Sudan's Efforts to Reach a Political Settlement will not Stop: UAE

In a meeting with the UN Security Council on Tuesday, the UAE affirmed that the falsehoods, misinformation, and propaganda propagated by sure Sudanese delegates, directed at the UAE and other nations, are intended to deceive the world community into not realizing the horrific crimes that the warring factions are committing on the ground.

During the special session on Sudan, Ambassador Mohammed AbuShehab, the UAE’s permanent representative to the UN, stated that the UAE will keep working toward a political solution that maintains Sudan and that “deceptive efforts to divert attention will not deter the UAE from continuing to work with international and regional partners to find an urgent political solution that preserves Sudan.

In addition to highlighting the necessity of a ceasefire and advancing toward a transition to civilian rule, he urged all parties involved in the fighting to safeguard civilians and infrastructure. In his speech, we express our deep concern about the tragic effects of the conflict in Sudan,” said AbuShehab.

He emphasized that the United Arab Emirates on Monday donated seventy percent of the hundred million dollars it had pledged in April, when it attended the International Humanitarian Conference on Sudan, to aid agencies of the UN and relief and humanitarian groups in support of the humanitarian efforts in Sudan. The World Health Organization’s Director-General welcomed this position and commended the UAE for assisting Sudan, stating, “with the support of partners and donors.
