In H1-2024, DXB Sets a Record with 44.9 Million Visitors

With robust connections to major international markets, DXB has solidified its standing as a gateway of choice on a global scale, reiterating its pivotal role in bolstering Dubai’s economic expansion.

In the first half of 2024, 9.31 million foreign visitors came to Dubai, a sign of the city’s growing popularity as a global centre for talent, businesses, and investors. The Department of Economy and Tourism in Dubai recently released these figures, which are in line with the growth of the city’s GDP, which increased by 3.2% to AED 115 billion in the first quarter of 2024.

The record-breaking performance in the first half of this year highlights our strategic importance as a global aviation hub,” said Paul Griffiths, CEO of Dubai Airports.”Our success has been primarily attributed to strong demand from important source markets like India and the gradual but inevitable resurgence of markets like China,” he continued. With 91.8 million annual guests predicted for 2024, we are on track to break records and have a very optimistic outlook for the rest of the year.

The airport’s continuous success has been greatly influenced by the size and importance of its established and expanding markets, which include East Asia, South Asia, Western Europe, the Gulf Cooperation Council, and South Asia. With 6.1 million passengers in the first half of 2024, India continues to be DXB’s most popular destination country. Meanwhile, traffic from China surpassed 1 million passengers, signifying an 80% increase in year-over-year growth and a 90% recovery over 2019 levels.
