If Israel Strikes Rafah, Saudi Arabia Threatens "Catastrophe."

A “humanitarian catastrophe” would result from Israel’s planned army action in crowded Rafah, Saudi Arabia declared on Saturday, calling for UN Security Council intervention.
According to a foreign ministry statement that was shown by state media, the kingdom “warned of the extremely dangerous repercussions of storming and targeting” Rafah and confirmed its “categorical rejection and strong condemnation of their forced deportation.”

In the metropolis in the deep south of Gaza, over a million Palestinians who have been forced from their homes have sought sanctuary; many are doing so in tents pressed up against the border with Egypt and the sea.

The leaders of Hamas in Gaza issued a warning on Saturday, claiming that “tens of thousands” of people might die in Israel’s planned army operation in the crowded city of Rafah, which has turned into the final haven for Palestinian refugees. The administration of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas denounced the Israeli initiative.

The actions of the Israeli occupation put regional and global security and peace in jeopardy. It added, “This is a flagrant transgression of all red lines.
