UAE Uses Traffic Signal Drones Dubai to Alleviate Traffic Congestion During Emergencies.

An intelligent traffic light drone capable of flying to trouble spots across the country may soon be released in the UAE. That is according to spokespersons at the World Police Summit (WPS), which began in Dubai on Tuesday.

“This can be used as a makeshift traffic signal when there is an emergency or when the traffic lights at an intersection fail,” a Ministry of Interior spokeswoman explained. “Right now it is a prototype, but we hope to start production once it goes through the final checks.”

The three-day event brings together prestigious agencies from 138 nations, including the FBI, NYPD, and INTERPOL. The WPS brings together the most recent developments in policing technology, cybersecurity, and road safety. Thought leaders from around the world will also debate a variety of issues, including crime prevention, forensics, and mobility.

The 3D printed traffic light will operate on a single charge for up to 25 minutes, allowing police to reach the area. “It is one of the first of its kind in the UAE and will hopefully go into production soon,” a spokeswoman for the company said. “If everything goes well, we hope to start testing soon.”
