According to Police Chief Al Shamsi, digital technology and artificial intelligence have reduced crime in Sharjah.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Sharjah Police, Major General Saif Mohammad Al Zari Al Shamsi, stated that several Sharjah police stations were awarded six stars and five stars in the UAE Government’s Global Star Rating System for Services in 2023. He further stated that this recognition motivates them to maintain their excellence and aim higher in their police work in 2024.

Major General Al Shamsi said in a statement to the Emirates News Agency that the emirate’s cities’ surveillance cameras had a positive impact on crime prevention and criminal case resolution in 2023.

Then, he conveyed his appreciation for the unwavering support that His Highness Dr. Sheikh Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, the ruler of Sharjah and a member of the Supreme Council, has provided for Sharjah Police to maintain safety and security throughout the emirate.

Major General Al Shamsi reports that from January to September 2023, the General Command of the Sharjah Police significantly reduced the number of severe crimes and road fatalities in the emirate. While the rate of severe crimes decreased to 32 per 100,000 people, the road mortality rate decreased to 1.33 deaths per 100,000 persons.
