Jeddah: In an effort to bring back the historical falconry traditions of the Arabian Peninsula, the Saudi Falcons Club has published the registration dates for the inaugural track of the AlUla Falcon Cup.
The project is the first in a planned sequence of activities highlighting the value of falcons to tourists and visitors to AlUla.
The Shuwaima Hall in the hamlet of Al-Fursan in AlUla is where participants in the first track, which is intended for owners, open owners, and local professionals, must register falcons between December 25 and 27, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Professionals and local business owners will battle in 24 rounds. Ten winners from among local professionals and open owners and ten winners from among local owners will each get prizes.
The falcons who achieve the best race time in the qualifying rounds of the King Abdulaziz Falconry Festival 2023 will take their place on the second track, while the elite falcons will have six rounds on the third track. The Al-Mazayen (beauty) competition takes place on the fourth track and has six rounds for local contestants.
