One of the Tallest Statues in the World is Unveiled in Turkmenistan.

In honour of its most well-known national poet, the remote Central Asian nation of Turkmenistan unveiled one of the world’s tallest bronze statues on Friday, standing at 80 metres (262 feet) in height.

The oil and gas-rich nation has built a number of structures, statues, and monuments in honour of the ruling family and national heroes in recent years. They are to promote a strong cult of personality, according to critics.

Head of state Serdar Berdymukhamedov oversaw the opulent dedication of the Magtymguly Pyragy statue, which is located south of Ashgabat.

He was born 300 years ago and is regarded as one of the most significant characters in Turkmen literature. Authorities are using his name to support a historically grounded Turkmen identity.

Twenty-four smaller bronze statues surround the Pyragy statue, depicting foreign writers such as Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Honore de Balzac, and William Shakespeare.

India’s Statue of Unity, standing at 182 meters, is the tallest statue in the world.Known as one of the most influential writers in Turkmen literature, he was born 300 years ago. Government officials are using his name to advance a historically grounded Turkmen identity.

Sculptor Saragt Babayev told the media, “I wanted to represent the greatness of a humanist and poet whose name figures among the eminent writers of the East.
