Violators of UAE Residency Visas and ID Cards Face Fines of up to Dhs20,000

According to the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Ports Security (ICP), the Emirates ID card and residency services are the subject of 14 administrative violations. The financial penalties associated with these violations vary depending on the type of violation and can reach Dhs20,000.

The ID card administrative fines are levied for two infractions: failing to register for the ID card on time and renewing it within 30 days of its expiration date. The ICP noted that the fine in this instance is Dhs20 per day of lateness, up to a maximum of Dhs1,000.

ICP stated six Dhs500 fines for violations of residency and foreign affairs. These violations occur when a company representative submits transactions to the passport employee that are not company-owned, enters data that is not company-owned via e-Dirham, the representative’s card has expired, the representative does not carry the card when submitting transactions, and violates the work system.

Additionally, ICP stated that there are three Dhs5,000 fines for these infractions: abusing the system, interfering with ICP staff members’ work or refusing to cooperate with them, or failing to pay the required fees in order to receive the service.
