UAE: The Private Sector has been Granted an Eid Al Fitr Holiday

In honor of Eid Al Fitr, the UAE government has declared official vacations for private-sector workers nationwide.

The break will start on Monday, April 8, and go until 3 Shawwal, or whatever the Gregorian equivalent of that date is. Depending on when the Moon is viewed, Ramadan lasts 29 or 30 days, according to the Islamic calendar. The first of Shawwal is dedicated to celebrating Eid Al Fitr.

In the event that Ramadan lasts 30 days, Monday, April 8 (Ramadan 29) through Friday, April 12 (Shawwal 3) is when the Eid break falls. There will be a total of nine days off if you include the Saturday-Sunday weekends both before and after the vacation. The break will occur from Saturday, April 6, to Sunday, April 14.

In the event that Ramadan lasts 29 days, locals will have six days off, including the weekend. There will be an Eid break from Monday, April 8 (Ramadan 29) until Thursday, April 11. There will be six days off if you consider the Saturday-Sunday weekend before the break. The break will occur from Saturday, April 6, to Thursday, April 11.

The festival signifies the conclusion of Ramadan, the holy month.
