Indian expatriates in the UAE are joyously celebrating the Festival of Lights, Diwali, today. His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the UAE, has extended warm wishes to residents and people worldwide on this auspicious occasion.

In a tweet, Sheikh Mohamed expressed, “We extend our best wishes to all those celebrating Diwali, the festival of lights, both in the UAE and across the world. May the year ahead bring peace, health and happiness to all.”

The UAE leader also conveyed the same message in Hindi: “हम यूएई और विश्व भर में दीपावली मना रहे सभी लोगों को शुभकामनाएँ देते हैं। आने वाला वर्ष सभी के लिए शांति, स्वास्थ्य और ख़ुशहाली लेकर आए।”

Diwali, known as the Festival of Lights, symbolizes the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil on a spiritual level. Those observing the festival adorn their homes with diyas (lamps) and illuminate candles. Colorful ‘rangoli’ art is created outside homes to usher in prosperity.

Across the UAE, residents have adorned their balconies with sparkling fairy lights, transforming buildings in areas such as Al Mankhool, Bur Dubai, Karama, and Al Barsha into mesmerizing displays of lights, embracing the festive spirit of Diwali.
