The UAE, according to Minister of State for International Cooperation Reem Bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, can only secure stability and peace in the region by means of a just and sustainable resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and a diplomatic route that culminates in the creation of a sovereign Palestinian state that coexists peacefully and securely with the State of Israel in conformity with bilateral agreements and international law.
Any solution must, above all, improve the humanitarian response to the ongoing tragic situation in the Gaza Strip. Al Hashimy stated that the UAE, under its leadership’s orders, is still sending urgent humanitarian aid and supplies to the Gaza Strip as part of its historic commitment to the Palestinian people.
Whether by air, sea, or land, the UAE is unwaveringly dedicated to providing humanitarian relief and helping the Palestinian people. She also mentioned that over the last ten months, 8 ships, 1,271 trucks, and 337 flights have carried 39,756 tonnes of essential supplies from the UAE to the Gaza Strip.
Al Hashimy added that the UAE will continue its intensive work with the UN and other international partners, using its leadership and innovative role to support all initiatives to reduce humanitarian suffering.
Al Hashimy emphasised that the desired and sustainable peace for Israelis, Palestinians, and the international community cannot be reached by reverting to the status quo before October 7, 2023. The UAE thinks that the immediate cessation of hostilities in Gaza and the release of all prisoners and hostages would be the first steps towards achieving peace and security in the Palestinian Territory and the surrounding area.
