UAE: Anera, a Dubai Cares Operational Partner, Suspends Operations in Gaza

Anera, the operational partner of UAE’s Dubai Cares, has said that operations in Gaza have been suspended. This comes after the World Central Kitchen team was targeted by a vicious Israeli airstrike on Tuesday that resulted in the deaths of seven relief workers and numerous injuries.

To provide humanitarian aid to inhabitants in northern Gaza, the UAE partnered with the World Central Kitchen as part of the Amalthea Initiative.

Due to this regrettable incident, Dubai Cares’ Anera has decided to suspend its humanitarian efforts in Gaza to prioritize the security and welfare of its employees and their families, the organization said in a statement.

It went on to say that Anera will keep up its logistical efforts both inside and outside Gaza. However, the organization will cease its direct operational activities in Gaza, which consist of distributing food and non-food items.

The statement continued, “We are in direct communication with Anera’s team members to closely monitor the situation and better understand the potential resumption dates of their direct operational work, as Anera is Dubai Cares’ implementing partner in Gaza for the provision of urgent humanitarian aid.”
