Three people found guilty of reckless driving have been fined Dh50,000 each and ordered to perform community service by the Al Ain Traffic Misdemeanor Court. The tasks in community service would include washing roads, among other penalties.
The Abu Dhabi Judicial Department said that the Al Ain Traffic Misdemeanor Court found the three people guilty of reckless driving, endangering the lives of other road users, showboating on a public road in a dangerous manner, causing damage to public property, breaking traffic laws by driving their cars noisily and without number plates. The court also suspended their driver’s license for three months and confiscated their vehicles.
The incident was brought to light after the video of the accused reckless driving went viral on social media. Consequentially, the authorities took appropriate action to arrest the drivers and referred them to Public Prosecution.
Public Prosecution conducted its own investigation into the incident. After establishing the evidence, the court found the defendants guilty of the charges and fined the three perpetrators.
