Saudi Arabia will lead the forum for green development during COP28.

Arab News

RIYADH: Saudi Arabia is making a commitment to a green and sustainable future through a number of projects, one of which is scheduled to take place at the upcoming climate summit in Dubai.

In order to demonstrate its commitment to constructing a greener future in an era of multibillion dollar giga-projects, the Kingdom will hold the third edition of the Saudi Green Initiative Forum on December 4 in conjunction with the UN’s COP28 session.

At the event, prominent people, experts on climate change, and thought leaders will share their perspectives and suggestions for addressing climate change.

Additionally, it will provide a venue for showcasing the goals and accomplishments of the SGI, which Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman started in 2021.

SGI is a comprehensive national plan that was created as part of the Vision 2030 program with the goals of reducing climate change, safeguarding the environment for future generations, and raising living standards in the Kingdom.

It brings together all the initiatives aimed at helping Saudi Arabia realize its goal of having net zero emissions by 2050 by establishing a circular carbon economy. Additionally, the Kingdom promised to cut carbon emissions by 278 million tons yearly by 2030.
