Now based in Qatar, the Green Economy Partnership

Now based in Qatar, the Green Economy Partnership

The announcement that the Green Economy Partnership’s (GEP) headquarters will be located in Doha, Qatar, is a major step towards the country’s long-term sustainability goal of encouraging international collaboration.

GEP is led by Sheikh Mansour Bin Jabor Bin Jassim Al Thani and is focused on working with governments to undertake CO2 removal projects covered by Article 6 of the Paris Agreement to increase its influence on global climate initiatives.

The Green Economy Partnership aims to establish international partnerships that go beyond transactional value. We actively collaborate with governments, offering guidance and spearheading the creation of ARR initiatives that lessen the net-zero global climate effect. Encouraging social and economic well-being is another aspect of our purpose. According to Sheikh Mansour, the purpose of the alignment with Qatar is to establish guidelines for the establishment of a robust framework that would enable the hard-to-abate sector to use internationally transferable mitigation outcomes (ITMOs) in accordance with each nation’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs).
