We recently had the privilege of interviewing Mohamad M. Maksoud, Founder and CEO of MAG PLUS Studio. He is also a Co-Founder of MAG in Damascus, Syria, and an Architect and Computational Designer at IBAG in Barcelona, Spain.
Besides these, Mohamad is a visiting Professor at ESARQ-UIC, Barcelona alongside being a PhD Candidate in Al and architecture, reflecting his passion for the field. With MAG PLUS Studio, Mohamad pioneers AI and computational design integration in architecture and interior design. In this insightful session, the CEO shares his career journey, and highlights of his company, and speaks about his plans for the growth of his business.
The Beginning
We started the interview by asking, “What were the key milestones in your career that led you to where you are today?”
Mohamad shared, “Holding a Master’s degree in Biodigital Architecture from UIC Barcelona was a significant milestone for me. Moreover, teaching in the Masters of Biodigital Architecture program at UIC Barcelona has played an equally crucial role in my career trajectory. Now a PhD candidate in AI in Architecture, launching MAG PLUS STUDIO as an extension of Maksoud Architectural Group in Syria has been another significant career advancement in my life.”
Glimpse Of Maksoud’s Daily Life
We were quite curious to learn about the daily routine of Mohamad M. Maksoud as a business owner. So, we asked, “Can you describe a typical day in your life as the leader of your company? What are your main focuses and challenges?”
Mohamad said, “My day is a mix of planning, team meetings, and client interactions. I focus on driving innovation, ensuring project quality, and fostering collaboration. The main challenges that I deal with are balancing creativity with operational tasks and staying ahead of industry trends at the same time.”
Daily Boost Of Motivation
To take the business to new heights, staying passionate and encouraged about the same is paramount. We asked, “How do you stay motivated and continue to find passion in your work?”
“Good feedback from clients and seeing my projects come to life keep me motivated. I have a genuine love for architecture and buildings, and I am passionate about rebuilding the destroyed areas in my country, Syria. Additionally, the support of my family is a great source of motivation.” He replied.

To understand the perspective of Mohamad M. Maksoud on effective team management, we inquired, “What strategies have you found most effective for managing and leading your team?”
He shared, “At MAG PLUS, we operate as one team. Effective communication and creating a positive environment are key strategies that always lead to great results. I trust and love my team, and this mutual respect and collaboration are essential to our success.”
Evolution Of The Architecture Sector
We further asked, “How has your industry changed since you started, and how has your company adapted to these changes?”
“The architecture industry has changed a lot with the advent of digital technologies and AI. Our company has adapted by integrating these technologies into our design and project management processes. We invest in research and development to stay ahead and offer practical solutions to our clients.” Mohamad added.

Eager to learn about the memorable achievements of Mohamad M. Maksoud’s business, we asked, “Can you share a success story from your business that you’re particularly proud of?”
“I’m thankful to have many success stories, but seeing my projects come to life in both Dubai and Syria is something I am particularly proud of. These accomplishments represent the success and pride I find in my work.” He shared.
Work-Life Balance: A Healthy Approach
Striking a perfect balance between work and personal life can be a myth at times, but not for all. To learn more, we asked, “How do you balance the demands of your career with your personal life?”
Mohamad shared, “I have a simple rule in life: family always comes first, followed by a small circle of close friends, and then business. This helps me maintain a healthy balance between my personal and professional life.”
Envisioning The Future
To learn about Mohamad M. Maksoud’s insights on the future development of this industry, we inquired, “Tell us more about your views on the future of this industry.”
He shared, “I believe the future of architecture will be heavily influenced by AI and digital technologies. These innovations will transform how we design, build, and manage buildings, leading to more sustainable and efficient environments. AI will enable architects to be more creative and functional.”

Lastly, we asked, “Looking ahead, what are the long-term goals for your company, and how are you working towards them?”
“I’m planning to expand Maksoud Architectural Group internationally and launch a new real estate development company based in Syria. This will help me achieve my dreams and goals of rebuilding my country and creating new opportunities for its people. Being in Dubai provides me with inspiration from this beautiful city, which I aim to incorporate into my work while preserving the heritage and culture of Syria.” Mohamad concluded.
