Dubai Steps up field Efforts to get Things Back to Normal Following the Rain.

Following the recent extreme weather conditions experienced by the city, field teams from various government entities in the emirate are working around the clock to ensure the complete restoration of services and smooth traffic flow on roads. These efforts are being carried out under the orders of Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, and the follow-up of Sheikh Mansoor Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai’s Supreme Committee of Crisis and Disaster Management].

According to Mattar Al Tayer, Director-General of RTA and Commissioner-General of Infrastructure, Urban Planning and Wellbeing Pillar, the authority has proactively created an integrated plan to handle any disruptions caused by weather. This all-encompassing plan prioritizes the security of drivers and passengers using public transportation. It also guarantees long-term service delivery, makes rapid water accumulation management easier, and aims to promptly resume traffic on major thoroughfares and regular operations of the Dubai Metro and public buses.

The team responsible for emergency and crisis management was dispatched by the authority and functioned from the unified command center. To handle rainwater collection, a joint control room run by the Dubai Municipality, real estate developers, and Dubai Police was also turned on. Rainwater pools were maintained by the Roads and Transport Authority in collaboration with the Dubai Municipality, Dubai Police, and Dubai Civil Defense to protect locals and drivers.
