Dubai Airshow 2023: fighter planes, missiles, drones—military might in full display

The Dubai Airshow 2023 is well-known for its billion-dollar commercial aircraft orders that are considered blockbusters. However, military prowess is also on full display at the largest-ever 18th edition of the expo, where the US, China, India, Pakistan, UAE, and Russia are showing their newest “big boy” toys.

Huge military vehicles, freight aircraft, missiles, fighter jets, helicopters, training aircraft, and other war machines are shown alongside commercial jets flown by international carriers.

The UAE military and other regional organizations steal the show with their impressive displays of cutting-edge cars, missiles, aircraft, and other equipment. During the five-day biennial expo, a number of local businesses, including Edge, Calidus, and others, are exhibiting their newest technologies to potential customers.

One of the top 25 military suppliers in the world, Edge Group, is displaying weapons, missiles, and other defense hardware.

During the current event, the UAE-based businesses have also secured some significant deals.

Edge announced on Wednesday that Lahab Defence Systems, a subsidiary, has secured a significant Dh4.1 billion contract for the provision of aircraft ammunition. The UAE’s Ministry of Defence has awarded a Dh487 million contract to its other company, Adasi, an autonomous systems and services company, for the provision of RASH 2M and RASH 2H guiding kits for mortars and other in-house designed payloads. There are numerous military uses for the highly accurate guided munition systems.
