Despite the severe weather in the emirate, Dubai Customs reported that all of its customs activities, including cargo clearance, inspections, and customs declarations, went on as usual at all of its centers.
Activities related to customs continued to run smoothly and under all laws. Mandates for remote work were in effect, with the exception of individuals who had to be present at their place of employment physically.
Between April 15 and April 17, the department processed over 255,000 customs transactions despite the severe weather. Work teams from all customs centers processed cargo clearance and inspections without any interruption. Following the appropriate safety procedures to address the extreme weather, the Jebel Ali and TECOM Customs Center processed 478 containers and cargo shipments.
To guarantee efficient cargo processing and vehicle traffic, emergency plans were triggered in collaboration with strategic partners in DP World and emergency support teams at Dubai Customs and Dubai airports. To address any challenges, the number of staff members conducting passenger inspections was expanded, and team leaders, building managers, and shift workers communicated more frequently.
