90% of Jobseeker’s CVs get rejected by hiring managers: Here’s Why?

90% of Jobseeker’s CVs get rejected by hiring managers: Here’s Why?

Many applications from UAE job seekers got rejected in the first stage, and they did not even reach the hiring managers because of different factors and , the main reason was the unframed CVs of the candidates.

According to recruitment and HR consultants, big companies in the UAE have positioned an artificial intelligence (AI) system to sift through thousands of CVs they receive daily from prospective candidates. Therefore, if CVs are not correctly presented, framed, or emailed, the chances of not reaching the intended person for a specific post are high.

Mayank Patel, vice president of sales for Eastern Europe and Mena and country head of Adecco Middle East, states that Al tools not just lessen the time-consuming screening process but also sift through candidates according to their skills rather than a personal choice, thus assuring the best candidates are brought to the attention of hiring managers in a matter of minutes.

He added, “A hiring manager receives around 200 or more resumes daily. Due to AI screening, the system analyzes the standards set by the hiring managers and filters down the applications around 10 percent to 20 percent of applications to be contacted for the next round of screening.”

Wales Anwar, managing director of Upfront HR, said they receive thousands of applications. Hence, it is hard to go through every application, especially the ones that are not applicable.

According to Upfront HR, many companies have a filter in place of an internal recruiter, recruitment agency, or software/AI to select suitable applications for a job, so it is very much down to the applicant to ensure that their CVs top the list.

He added, “It’s so easy to apply for jobs nowadays, and because of this, candidates don’t take time to customize each application to the job to beat the competition. They could highlight or add more relevant skills to their CV in the form of keywords so that ten software or recruiters would pick up and the CV would be shortlisted. The candidates can also take time to find out who are hiring managers or recruiters dealing with the vacancy and personalize the application directly to them instead of just clicking and applying.”

He added, “Applicants should take time to read the advertisement and ensure that they match 70-80 percent of the requirements and then apply.
