In the first quarter of 2024, there were 11,990 commercial aviation activities in the United Arab Emirates, a 21% increase over the same period in 2023. As a result of this growth, permit requests have increased by 72%, and permit renewals have increased by more than three times.
At Dubai International Airport and Al Maktoum International Airport, requests for landing permits for aircraft (private, passenger, and cargo) to operate all kinds of non-scheduled and designated flights (commercial and non-commercial) have also increased, with over 4,000 permits requested in the first quarter of 2024. The emirate’s construction industry has grown to twice the previous level, and with it, building and elevation permits in air easement zones have increased significantly.
During the 23rd Airport Show, the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority (DCAA) emphasised its critical role in developing the aviation sector and related activities in the emirate. More than 150 exhibitors from more than 20 different countries participated in the event.
“We are committed to exerting all efforts to develop and manage aviation policy for the Emirate and to provide essential services to aviation operators and service providers,” stated Mohammed Abdulla Lengawi, director general of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority. Our involvement in the Airport Show highlights our noteworthy contributions to industry development and exemplifies our purpose and function within this context.
