According to data from the Ministry of Interior, 4,920,558 speeding offenses were reported nationwide in 2023. Among these were 4,202,967 infractions for exceeding the speed limit by up to 20 km/h.
Breaking the speed limit by no more than 40 km/h resulted in 587,527 offenses, and breaking the speed limit by no more than 50 km/h resulted in 130,064 offenses.
According to data on different kinds of traffic accidents in the United Arab Emirates last year, speeding without paying attention to the state of the road caused 87 of those incidents. Abu Dhabi had the most accidents (48), followed by Ras Al Khaimah (one), Dubai (37), and Fujairah (one).
You will be fined Dhs600 if you go over the speed limit by no more than 30 km/h. You will be fined Dhs700 if you go over the speed limit by no more than 40 km/h.
You will be fined Dhs1,000 if you exceed the speed limit by no more than 50 km/h. If you exceed the speed limit by up to 60 km/h, you will receive six traffic points, a Dhs 1,500 fine, and your car will be impounded for 15 days. If you exceed the speed limit by sixty kilometers per hour, you will be fined Dhs 2,000 and receive twelve traffic points. Additionally, your car will be seized for thirty days.
