A 5.1 magnitude earthquake trembles Turkey's northwest.

ANKARA: On Monday, a moderately strong earthquake occurred A 5.1 magnitude earthquake in northwest Turkey, causing panic as people fled into the streets. No reports of damage or injuries were made right away.

According to the disaster management organization, AFAD, the center of the magnitude 5.1 earthquake was in the Sea of Marmara, off the town of Gemlik in Bursa province. It struck at around 9 kilometers (5.6 miles) below the surface at 10:42 a.m. local time (07:42 GMT).

According to HaberTurk television, people fled their homes and workplaces out of terror when it was sensed in Istanbul and other surrounding areas.
A 7.8-magnitude earthquake that struck in February destroyed 11 provinces in southern and southeast Turkey as well as a portion of northern Syria. In Turkey, around 50,000 individuals lost their lives.
