According to Palace, King Charles has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing treatment.

The 75-year-old King Charles of Britain has been diagnosed with a type of cancer, and he will delay his public appearances while he receives treatment, Buckingham Palace announced on Monday.

After his mother, Queen Elizabeth, passed away in September 2022, Charles ascended to the throne and, according to the palace, is “wholly positive” about his treatment and eager to resume full public duty as soon as possible.

Last month, Charles had an enlarged prostate treated with a surgical procedure that required three nights in the hospital. The monarch was diagnosed with a “form of cancer,” according to the palace, but no other information was provided. It was stated that a different matter of worry had been noticed during the hospital visit. According to a royal source, prostate cancer was not the cause.

Doctors have instructed that His Majesty should delay engagements with the public while he begins his regimen of routine treatments, which began today, the palace announced. His Majesty will carry out routine official paperwork and State business now.

According to the Palace, the king “has chosen to share his diagnosis in the hopes that it may assist public understanding for all those around the world who are affected by cancer and to prevent speculation.”
