Canada and Saudi Arabia decide to swap trade delegations again.

RIYADH: Following a five-year hiatus, Saudi Arabia and Canada have decided to resume exchanging trade delegations.

The Federation of Saudi Chambers of Commerce and the Canadian government signed a memorandum of agreement to establish a joint Saudi-Canadian Business Council.

The action was taken when Riyadh and Ottawa restored full diplomatic relations last year.

According to Hassan Al-Huwaizi, president of the Saudi Chambers of Commerce, forming a joint council is a step in the right direction. It would strengthen economic relations between the two nations.

On Thursday, al-Huwaizi also met with Canada’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Jean-Philippe Linteau. During their meeting, they talked about strengthening their economic ties and boosting investment and commerce between their two countries.

He added that businesspeople in both nations will have a forum to advertise their ventures and develop alliances thanks to the business council.

It is anticipated that it will also make it easier for corporate executives in the two nations to communicate regularly and share knowledge about markets and possibilities.
