Following a fatal shooting in Prague, an Emirati couple is in stable condition.

After countless surgeries, the Emirati couple injured in the tragic mass shooting in Prague in December of last year are both in stable condition, the injured woman’s brother told Khaleej Times on Wednesday.

Dr. Khalifa Al Mehrizi reported that Rowdah Al Mehrizi, his younger sister, and her husband, Ahmed Ibrahim Al Ali, were moved to a Munich, Germany hospital for additional care.

When the attack occurred on December 21, 2018, Rowdah, the head of marketing and corporate communication at Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority, and Ahmed, the director-general of the Umm Al Quwain Municipality, were on vacation in Prague with their kids.

Dr. Khalifa recalled: “The couple heard a series of random gunfire as they were returning to their hotel, which was around 4.30 p.m., near Charles University square.” Suddenly, a gunman fired indiscriminately from the university balcony, striking Roudha in the chest and injuring her husband with two bullets to the chest. Fortunately, none of their kids suffered any injuries.

In addition to Rowdah and Ahmed, the terrible attack claimed the lives of fourteen other people and injured twenty-five more. David Kozak, a 24-year-old student at the same university, was named as the gunman. He had an arsenal of firearms but no past criminal record.
