According to Chris Kempczinski, President and CEO of McDonald’s Corporation, the company has had a “meaningful business impact” on LinkedIn.
There were rumours that McDonald’s in Israel had supplied food for IDF soldiers following the start of the Gaza War. Online, this sparked a great deal of indignation and numerous calls for a brand boycott.
Kempczinski wrote on LinkedIn, “I also recognise that several markets in the Middle East and some outside the region are experiencing a meaningful business impact due to the war and associated misinformation that is affecting brands like McDonald’s.”
Our thoughts and prayers are still with the families and communities affected by the Middle East conflict. We will always gladly welcome everyone into our home, and we detest any forms of violence and hate speech,” he continued.
To be clear, he said that the fast food company is “represented by local owner-operators” who “support their communities”.
According to the health ministry, the death toll in Gaza has reached 22,438—nearly 1% of the country’s 2.3 million residents.
