The king of Jordan opposes any Israeli proposal to seize portions of Gaza.

According to state media on Monday, The king of Jordan Abdullah opposed any Israeli plans to establish security zones or occupy portions of Gaza, citing Israel’s denial of the Palestinian people’s “legitimate rights” as the primary cause of the situation.

Senior parliamentarians were informed by the monarch during remarks made at the royal palace that there was “no military or security solution” to the Israeli-Palestinian problem.

According to him, Israel shouldn’t divide the war-torn region of Gaza from the other Palestinian Territories. The Israeli occupation of Palestinian territory and its denial of Palestinians’ fundamental rights, the king informed the MPs, were the “root of the crisis.”

Any alternative course is bound to fail and result in an even worse cycle of bloodshed and devastation; the solution begins there,” he declared.

Jordan shares a border with the West Bank, where King Abdullah claimed he had long warned about Israeli transgressions and that Jewish settlement attacks on Palestinian civilians might “extend the conflict and push the region “to the abyss.”

Many Palestinian refugees and their descendants live in Jordan and are afraid that Israel would drive them out of the Israeli-occupied West Bank, where settler attacks by Israeli forces against Palestinian residents have increased since Hamas’s onslaught on southern Israel on October 7.
