UAE air Taxi to Launch Next Year: US Air Force Receives First Aircraft for Evaluation

The first Midnight aircraft was delivered to the US Air Force for assessment on Thursday by US-based Archer Aviation, which will produce and run the aircraft as an air taxi in the United Arab Emirates.

Archer and the Abu Dhabi Investment Office inked a multi-hundred-million-dollar agreement earlier this year for Archer to produce air taxis and set up its global headquarters in the capital of the United Arab Emirates. The creator of electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) vehicles has announced that air taxi services will begin the following year.

With a fare of roughly Dh800–Dh1,500, this new air travel method will cut the 60–90 minute trip time between Abu Dhabi and Dubai to just 10–20 minutes. In the meantime, a ride within an emirate will set you back about Dh350.

The military airworthiness assessment for Midnight was previously approved by the US Department of Defence, a crucial clearance that validates its preparedness for flight testing. This enables the US Air Force to test the aircraft under government supervision and validates operational and military-specific mission concepts.
