Executives in the industry have cautioned UAE citizens who intend to buy used cars in the next six to twelve months. They advise obtaining pre-owned autos from reputable dealers or doing a comprehensive inspection of cars before making a purchase.
The region saw its worst rainfall in 75 years during last week’s storms, severely flooding many roads and damaging thousands of cars. It’s conceivable that the local market will offer these vehicles for sale.
Sharjah and Ajman are more impacted than some areas of Dubai. Many of our customers have returned recently, either in search of new vehicles or in need of auto repairs. According to Abhinav Gupta, CEO of Cars24’s Gulf area, the same numbers were mentioned by other partners that we dealt with.
According to Gupta, depending on the circumstances, 20–25 percent of submerged cars will probably have major issues or damages. Owners of repairable autos will keep them. They’ll arrive afterward. For the next six to twelve months, the majority of these autos should be available again.
E-commerce platforms estimated that pre-owned car sales last year reached 0.5 million units, representing a 7–10% annual growth rate.
