In a tight IPL victory over Gujarat Titans on Wednesday, Rishabh Pant amassed an undefeated 88 runs, increasing his prospects of representing India in the T20 World Cup.
After falling to 44-3 after six overs at their home Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi rallied to record 224-4 thanks to a 113-run partnership between Pant and fellow left-hander Axar Patel, who made 66. After Rashid Khan hit an undefeated twenty-one off eleven deliveries and David Miller scored fifty-three off 23 balls, the hosts held Gujarat to 220-8 to win by four runs.
Delhi maintained their hopes of making the playoffs in the T20 competition with their fourth win in nine games, thanks to Mukesh Kumar’s composure in the last over.
After spending 14 months away from elite cricket due to a terrifying vehicle accident in which his Mercedes crashed into a barrier, overturned, and caught fire in December 2022, Pant, 26, scored his third half-century of the current season.
The wicketkeeper-batsman Pant was taken to Mumbai for additional medical attention and surgery after suffering severe injuries.
Man of the match Pant stated, “Every day that I’m in the middle, I feel better,” following his 43-ball barrage that included five fours and eight sixes.
I enjoy being on the field, and every hour there counts.” I make an effort to give it my all. My confidence in a game is increased by the first six of the match.
