UAE Establishes a Field Hospital for Sudanese Refugees in Chad

To provide medical and healthcare services to Sudanese refugees in the Republic of Chad, Sheikh Shakhboot Bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State, opened the integrated UAE field hospital in the city of Abéché on the orders of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The field hospital, which costs more than $20 million to build, includes internal medicine, gynecology and obstetrics, orthopedics, general surgery, and pediatrics departments.

The field hospital is run by Burjeel Hospital – Abu Dhabi and employs 92 nurses, 12 medical support workers, 41 non-medical support staff, and 22 doctors.

In keeping with the UAE’s policy of standing by friendly countries and supporting them in various circumstances, the field hospital’s opening is a part of the UAE leadership’s commitment to continuously provide humanitarian and relief support to the Sudanese people, lessen their burdens from the war, and meet their medical, humanitarian, and relief needs.

This time, Sheikh Shakhboot Bin Nahyan reaffirmed that the hospital’s opening is a component of the assistance the UAE offers Sudanese citizens who are impacted by the difficult circumstances brought on by the country’s conflict, which started in April 2023.
