Due to the growing number of people who want to do Umrah rites during the Holy Month of Ramadan, air traffic between the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia is increasing noticeably. This increase peaks during the final 10 days of the Holy Month.
The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) reports that during March, when Ramadan began, there was a 13.3% increase in the number of flights between the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, amounting to about 383 weekly flights, up from about 338 weekly flights in February.
The government also mentioned that Etihad Airways, which flies to places like Dammam, Jeddah, and Riyadh, expanded its flights to the Kingdom by more than 22.2%, from 63 flights in February to 77 in March.
Emirates ran over 67 weekly flights to the Kingdom in March, covering Dammam, Jeddah, Madinah, and Riyadh. Wizz Air Abu Dhabi operated roughly 21 weekly flights, including flights to Madinah and Dammam, according to the GCAA.
Meanwhile, Air Arabia’s weekly flight schedule included stops at Abha, Al Jowf, Dammam, Qassim, Hail, Jeddah, Madinah, Riyadh, Taif, Yanbu, and Tabuk.
According to Etihad Airways, from March 11 to April 7, the airline carried almost 45,000 passengers to their destinations throughout Ramadan and the Umrah season.
