William fills the regal hole left by Prince Harry while King Charles receives medical treatment.

After his father, King Charles III, received a shocking cancer diagnosis, Prince William went back to work on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Prince Harry, alienated from his father, was getting ready to board a plane to return home.
With William’s wife Catherine recuperating from abdominal surgery and Charles, 75, getting cancer treatment in the wake of Monday’s shocking announcement, the heir apparent was forced back into the forefront of royal duties.

William, the eldest son of Charles, had canceled public appearances to take care of his wife, the Princess of Wales, and their three children following her hospital admission on January 16th to have surgery. On Wednesday, however, Charles returned to his duties as host of an investiture ceremony for honored individuals for their good actions and community service at Windsor Castle, west of London.

His last significant royal event appearance was three weeks ago. About twenty-four hours after his jet set, Harry returned to Heathrow Airport at the same time for an anticipated trip back to the United States.
