When heavy rains arrived in the United Arab Emirates last week, an Emirati man used his love of kayaking to launch a rescue effort. Youssef Al Feel, with his little kayak, saved 25 families, including a pregnant woman.
Youssef, who adores the sea and water activities, raced with his siblings to save families when their area was inundated by an overflowing valley.
When Youssef took out his kayak, the first floors of every house were underwater. This made it easier for him to enter the homes and hallways, saving twenty-five families, including young ones, the elderly, and a nine-month pregnant lady.
“My brother called me at four in the morning after the valley flooded and entered the area to inform me of a woman seeking help to rescue her brother who couldn’t swim and was standing atop his car,” he said in an interview with Khaleej Times. “We went to rescue him because, fortunately, I had all the equipment in my house, even though the car was completely submerged.”
