Young muezzins in Dubai were beaming with delight as Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum gave them a unique envelope.
The emirate’s Crown Prince presented each of them with an Eidiya ahead of Eid Al Fitr, calling them “beautiful echoes of our society.”
311 kids from 51 neighborhoods participated in Dubai’s exclusive ‘Muezzin Al Farij’ project, of which the lads were a part. As part of this program, they receive instruction in the call to prayer, preparing them to lead prayer at mosques in their local communities as muezzins.
The project gained the hearts of the locals. Worshippers have claimed that there’s nothing like hearing boys as young as six pronounce the call to prayer. Mothers who have raised their sons to be muezzins in their neighborhoods are likewise proud.
The youthful muezzins together in a single mosque are shown in a video released by the Dubai Media Office receiving the Eidiya, which is customarily given to them in cash.
Grinning as they accepted their regal gifts, the youngsters thanked Sheikh Hamdan in turn:
In 2023, Furjan Dubai and the Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities in Dubai launched Muezzin Al Farij. Designed for kids between the ages of six and sixteen, the program offers young people the unique chance to receive instruction in correctly reciting the call to prayer.
