The renowned Ustad Inayat Hussain Khan Sahab, the creator of the Rampur Sahaswan Gharana, is the great-grandson of Ustad Rashid Khan. In addition, he is Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan’s nephew.

In addition to making a significant contribution to Indian classical music, he also worked his magic in Bollywood with songs like “Allah Hi Reham” from the Shah Rukh Khan film “My Name is Khan” and “Aaoge Jab Tum O Saajana” from the Kareena-Shahid film “Jab We Met.”

In a post on X, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her condolences: “Our hearts are heavy at the loss of Ustad Rashid Khan, one of the finest performers of Indian classical music in history.

A very talented vocalist with unmatched musical brilliance, he did us proud by relocating here and establishing Bengal as his home. We were close to him, Soma, his wife, and their son Armaan, and the entire family welcomed us to join them on the maestro’s final voyage.
