In 2025, UAE residents can take up to 13 days off for public holidays. According to a resolution issued by the UAE Cabinet, the holiday celebrating the Islamic festival Eid Al Fitr will be slightly different next year. This is the most significant change in public holidays since recent years.
Residents can take up to three vacations per year thanks to this unique combination of annual leave and public holidays.
Most holiday dates follow the Islamic Hijri calendar, with months determined by when the Moon is sighted. The corresponding Gregorian calendar dates will be announced closer to the relevant events.
The Islamic holiday Eid Al Fitr, which falls after Ramadan, will give residents up to four days off. The holiday is a little different this year. The resolution designates the first three days of Shawwal (the month following Ramadan) as holidays. If Ramadan lasts 30 days, the 30th of the Islamic month will also be a holiday, giving residents four days off (Ramadan 30 through Shawwal 3). If the holy month lasts 29 days, the holiday is only for the first three days of Eid (Shawwal 1-3).
In 2024, the Eid Al Fitr holiday was observed from Ramadan 29 to Shawwal 3. This year, residents enjoyed a nine-day break, including weekends.
