In the UAE, a new council has been established to supervise issues pertaining to global humanitarian initiatives and philanthropy.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the President of the United Arab Emirates, launched the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council on Thursday.
In terms of the global humanitarian and philanthropic sector, the new council will play the following roles:
To supervise the industry
To examine and accept the policy agenda
– to supervise the planning and execution of pertinent initiatives
to establish any subcommittees required in order to assist operations
Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the head of the Presidential Court’s Office of Development and Martyrs Families Affairs, will preside over the council.
It also includes Maryam bint Mohammed Saeed Hareb Al Mheiri, Minister of Climate Change and Environment; Shamma bint Suhail Al Mazrouei, Minister of Community Development; Faris Mohammed Ahmed Al Mazrouei, Advisor to the Presidential Court; and Reem Ibrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation. Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for International Development Affairs; Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the Abu Dhabi Fund for Development; and Dr. Hamdan Musallam Al Mazrouei, Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent Board of Directors.
