UAE Midday Breaks: Minister Examines Private Sector's Readiness

Minister of Human Resources and Emiratization (MoHRE), Dr. Abdulrahman Al Awar, examined how the private sector was getting ready to start implementing the Midday Break.

From Saturday, June 15 through September 15, there will be a Midday Break every day from 12:30 to 3:00 pm that forbids working in direct sunlight or outside.

Accompanied by a number of high-ranking Ministry officials, Al Awar visited a Sobha Realty project in Dubai and examined the worker rest areas furnished by the company to guarantee the health, safety, and comfort of its employees during the Midday Break. These areas feature cold water, cooling devices, and other amenities.

Al Awar stated, “The Midday Break has become a well-established culture in the UAE private sector as it enters its 20th consecutive year,” highlighting the high levels of compliance the program has amassed over time.

“The private sector is a strategic partner for the government in its efforts to enhance the competitiveness and leadership of the UAE labour market.”

“We can see this clearly in companies’ consistent compliance with labour relations regulations, as well as in their commitment to supporting labour market initiatives and programmes, in addition to prioritising social responsibility,” he said.
