UAE Flu Shot for Pilgrims Performing the Umrah: Price and Procedure Explained as Hospital Demand Soars

Following the recent advice on obligatory immunization for pilgrims traveling to Umrah, some hospitals nationwide report increased demand for flu injections.

The Ministry of Health and Prevention (Mohap) in the United Arab Emirates recently stated that anybody traveling to Saudi Arabia for Umrah or Haj would need to provide proof of influenza vaccination. The airline announced that all Etihad Airways passengers traveling to Jeddah will need to have the certificate. There are still no standards from other airlines.

The travelers’ clinic at Thumbay University Hospital is busier than usual, according to infection control physician Dr. Fiaz Ahamed.

“Umrah pilgrims are crammed into the clinic to receive vaccinations per Mohap’s order. Every day, we have over fifty individuals seeking the flu shot,” Dr. Ahamed stated.

“We’ve witnessed an increase in the number of people visiting our clinics and facility to receive the flu shot. Our hospital administered up to 50 flu shots in March, according to Dr. Jyoti Upadhyay, an Aster internal medicine specialist.

Umrah is a famous short-term pilgrimage to the holy city of Makkah at any time of year. Health officials have emphasized the importance of immunization in stopping the spread of the illness because the Umrah season falls during the influenza season.
