Experts in healthcare advised people not to disregard itching during the summer months as it may be a sign of more serious health concerns. According to medical professionals, folliculitis, dry, irritated skin, melasma, sun allergy, sunburn, and rashes associated with swimming, like swimmer’s ear and swimmer’s itching, are the most frequent summer rashes they see in the clinic.
“On the other hand, itching could indicate a more severe underlying medical condition, such as diabetes, thyroid problems, liver or kidney disease, or even certain cancers,” stated Dr. C. Vijay Krishna, a specialist at the Thumbay University Hospital’s Centre for Dermatology and Cosmetology.
Summertime fun can be ruined by sunburn. Additionally, it may raise your chance of getting skin cancer, dermatology specialist Dr. Doaa Al Rawad of Burjeel Day Surgery Centre in Reem Island, Abu Dhabi, cautioned.
Dr. Krishna told the tale of a Filipina, who was in her early twenties, who had recently developed an itchy reddish rash on her hands and face and had visited the dermatology department of Thumbay University Hospital. She was taking oral doxycycline and several other creams as part of her acne treatment regimen. She had red flare-ups that looked like burn marks all over her face, chest, and back.
