On Saturday, the UAE pledged $5 million in aid for Gaza’s reconstruction. The funds will help Sigrid Kaag, the UN Senior Coordinator for Gaza’s Humanitarian and Reconstruction Affairs, in her endeavors.
While in the nation, Kaag met with Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan. During their meeting, they discussed the war’s deteriorating effects on Gaza’s humanitarian situation.
Sheikh Abdullah emphasized the need for a truce as well as making sure that the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip receive humanitarian relief and medical assistance.
After analyzing satellite footage, the United Nations Satellite Centre estimated on Friday that 30% of the buildings in the Gaza Strip had been destroyed or damaged during the Israeli offensive.
According to the report, “a staggering” 69,147 structures have been impacted. In addition, 22,131 structures have been declared demolished, 14,066 as seriously damaged, and 32,950 as having moderate damage.
Since the conflict started on October 7, over 27,000 people have died, and 66,287 have been injured in Gaza.
