According to Sharjah Police, two Asian women suffocated to death on Tuesday night after breathing in carbon monoxide gas that had leaked from their private automobile as traffic halted because of the enormous water puddles on the streets.
The Sharjah Police Commander-in-Chief, Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, disclosed that last Tuesday evening, the operations room received a report informing them that the National Ambulance was unable to transport two Asian women because their vehicle was seen on Al Ittihad Street heading towards the Emirate of Sharjah. He said that police patrols raced to the area to take the two women to the hospital.
Al Shamsi clarified that the car, traveling from Dubai to Sharjah and had to halt because of the enormous water puddles on Al Ittihad Street, was carrying two men and two women. He claimed that the two women stayed inside the car with the air conditioner running and all the windows locked while the two males went out to look for a way to move the car and get off the street.
The National Ambulance was unable to reach the vehicle, so the two men had to notify the police as soon as they got back and discovered the two women unconscious. At about 10 p.m., the police patrols arrived at the scene and took the two women to Al Qasimi Hospital so they could receive the appropriate medical care, he said.
