The inauguration of the ‘Dream of the Desert’ train service was announced by Saudi Arabia on January 27. The 40-cabin luxury train, a first for the Middle East and North Africa, will enhance the kingdom’s transportation options and services with more high-quality services, according to SPA.
Launching the ‘Dream of the Desert’ service, Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) teamed up with the Italian Arsenale Group, an expert in managing opulent train excursions.
Reservations for the 40-cabin “Dream of the Desert” train will open at the end of 2024, and service is scheduled to start in the fourth quarter of 2025. The initial journeys will begin at Riyadh’s North rail Station, travel through Hail, and conclude at the Al Qurayyat rail station.
At the signing ceremony in Riyadh, Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistic Services and Chairman of the Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR), Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Al Jasser, said, “This is one of the initiatives the National Strategy for Transport and Logistics has taken to improve the quality of life and support leading national strategies.”
